Public Hearings. Please come out and support the W&OD Trail at the public hearings. The State Corporation Commission will decide whether to preserve the Trail and they need to hear from you! A public hearing on DVP’s application is scheduled for Wednesday, February 8th, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 9, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. in the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison Street SE, Leesburg, Virginia. Please mark your calendars and plan to voice your support for the preservation of the W&OD Trail!

4/19/06 Update: The hearings before the State Corporation Commission in Richmond, VA will reconvene in 2 months on June 19. They are expected to conclude the week of June 26.

03/12/06 Event Save the Trail Rockin' Party at Ball's Bluff Tavern in Leesburg, VA.

3/13/06 Thank you for the Rockin' Party! Save the Trail would like to thank everyone who came to our Rockin' Party last night at Ball’s Bluff Tavern in Leesburg. We raised over $750 and this money will go directly to pay for the legal counsel retained to represent the Trail at the hearings. We plan to host future events in Leesburg so check back for details here often. Meanwhile, please make your contribution to help Save the Trail today! We can’t save the W&OD Trail without your immediate financial support. Today is the day to help save the trail that you love. Think about what the trail means to you & donate generously now! The hearings begin in Richmond on Monday, March 27. We will post updates with relevant news throughout the hearing process.

12/05/05 A "911" for the W&OD Trail SCC Orders DVP to Notify Public that Trail Will be Considered! On October 21, 2005, the State Corporation Commission, the administrative body that will decide where the towers will be erected, ordered DVP to publish public notices and notify all homeowners along the W&OD Trail that the Commission will consider the use of the W&OD Trail for overhead powerlines because, “The Trail is an existing right-of-way, and, given the particular facts herein and pursuant to Virginia law, will be considered as one alternative for the proposed transmission line in this case.” Click here to go to the SCC Website.

11/17/05 Voice your concerns about using the W&OD Regional Park for a new transmission line. The SCC accepts public comment on Dominion's application via the SCC website, until February 6, 2006. 9/20/05 Scenic Loudoun Legal Defense's Motion is Denied! Scenic Loudoun Legal Defense's Motion (and other parties who joined in) to force DVP to include the Trail in its application is denied by the SCC. The SCC states, however, that it will still consider the Trail for overhead powerlines! To read the full option, click here.

6/19/05 Centex Homes, Inc. files a response to Dominon Virginia Power's application requesting that the SCC order DVP to use the W&OD Trail for overhead transmission lines! To read the document, click here.
